ASTM A106 Grade A is a material grade for high-temperature seamless carbon steel pipes. Equivalent materials must be determined comprehensively based on chemical composition, mechanical properties, and applicable standards; similar grades should not be simply regarded as completely equivalent.
Important Note: Similar grades only indicate that the chemical composition and mechanical properties are close and equivalent, not that they are completely identical. Material evaluation and design approval must be completed before substituting materials in a project.
| Country / Region | Standard | Grade | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | ASTM A106/A106M | Grade A | ASTM material for low- and medium-pressure high-temperature pipelines. |
| United States | ASME SA-106 | Grade A | Corresponding ASME grade; may be considered an equivalent material in engineering applications. |
| Europe | EN 10216-2 | P235GH | Seamless steel pipes for high-temperature, high-pressure applications; may serve as an approximate substitute under European standards, but is not strictly equivalent. |
| Germany | DIN 17175 | St 35.8 | An obsolete grade for high-temperature seamless steel pipes, now superseded by EN 10216-2 P235GH. |
| China | GB/T 8163 | 10# | Chemical composition and basic mechanical properties are highly similar; commonly used for fluid conveyance pipelines with low strength requirements. |
| Japan | JIS G3456 | STPT370 | Seamless carbon steel pipes for high-temperature environments; often used as an approximate substitute. |
