API 5L Grade B line pipe is carbon steel pipe manufactured and inspected in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute’s API Specification 5L, “Specification for Line Pipe,” also known as L245 line pipe, and complies with the ISO 3183 standard (The technical requirements of API 5L and ISO 3183 are essentially the same, and the mechanical property requirements for ISO 3183 L245 and API 5L Grade B are identical.) It is primarily used in oil, natural gas, water, and other fluid transmission systems.
API 5L Grade B line pipe is typically manufactured from carbon-manganese steel and encompasses two product specification levels: PSL1 and PSL2. It can be produced using seamless or welded (ERW, LSAW, SSAW/HSAW) processes to meet the diameter and pressure requirements of various projects. Among these, PSL2 imposes stricter requirements on chemical composition, mechanical properties, impact toughness, nondestructive testing, and quality control; However, PSL2 does not indicate a higher strength grade than PSL1; rather, it signifies more comprehensive and stringent quality and inspection requirements.
Grade B is one of the most widely used basic pipeline steel grades in the API 5L standard. It offers good strength, toughness, weldability, formability, and cost-effectiveness, and is extensively used in oil transmission pipelines, natural gas transmission pipelines, water conveyance pipelines, fluid conveyance systems in the petrochemical industry, and basic pipelines in the power and energy sectors.
We supply API 5L Grade B carbon steel pipes in a variety of diameters, wall thicknesses, and lengths, and can arrange custom dimensions, end finishing, surface treatment, inspection services, and export packaging according to customer requirements.
